Plates

A pop art social app site.

Plates is a landing site for a consumer app, in the Pop Art style: warm paper, ink black and three flat inks (sunflower, hot pink, cobalt), a cobalt flood hero, condensed caps (Anton) in black boxes, 4px ink outlines and hard offset shadows on every card, Ben-Day dot fills, speech bubbles and starbursts. Body in Golos Text, labels in DM Mono. The sample app, Dotty (one photo a day for close friends, screen-printed in three inks), and every handle, price and comment are invented sample content.

The 3D moment

Real three-ink screen prints made in the browser: a pinned press where scrolling slides the sunflower, pink and cobalt Ben-Day plates onto the paper one by one from far out of register into register until the print is stamped as posted, plus a try-it bench that prints your own photo.

What you get

Straight from the template's README, the same file you will find in the repository.

  • Home (index.html): cobalt flood hero with the headline, app buttons and today's print on a tilted card with a speech bubble and reaction dots; how a print is made (four steps beside a press); try a print (your own photo or a sample, three ink sets, dot size, download as PNG); today's wall of eight prints with Friends / Nearby / Everyone filters and reaction dots you can press; what it leaves out as four starbursts; plans with a monthly or yearly switch; questions as speech-bubble accordions; a pink download band.
  • A print (print.html?p=p1): the print large, its three plates shown separately with their screen angles, the comment thread with a reply box and states, previous and next prints, and a "never posted" state.
  • 404 (404.html): "This page slipped off the press", three plates of 404 drifting out of register.
  • Light and dark-room (dark) themes: follows the system, with a toggle that remembers the choice. Phone to desktop.
