Inkwell
A Pop Art comic shop site.
Inkwell is a website for an independent comic shop, in the Pop Art style of a printed comic: yellowed newsprint, ink, pulp red, mustard, teal and a pale pink; Ben-Day dots; 4px ink borders and hard block shadows; narration boxes, starbursts and panels with slanted gutters. Schibsted Grotesk at black weight shouts in capitals, Geologica does the reading. The sample shop, Panel & Pulp, and every series, creator, price and event are invented sample content. Every comic cover is drawn in code from a few fields, so no real characters or publishers appear.

The 3D moment
The first screen is a comic page that prints itself: panel borders ink in, colours roll on like print passes, the lead cover swings into its panel and a KRAK! burst pops (and cycles sound effects when pressed).
What you get
Straight from the template's README, the same file you will find in the repository.
- Home (
index.html): the first screen is a comic page (four panels with slanted gutters: the headline in a narration box with a misregistered word, this week's lead cover leaning out of its panel, the pull-list call to action on a halftone print of ink tins with a KRAK! burst you can press for other sounds, and today's opening hours); "New this Wednesday", a rack of six drawn covers with prices and add buttons; your pull list as a drawn longbox that fills as you add series, with a monthly total; sketch nights and signings as a three-panel comic strip with save-a-seat buttons; staff picks in speech balloons pointing at their covers; a visit block with a halftone shelf photo and today's hours marked. - Pull list (
pull.html): the whole wall of series with genre filters, add and remove, and a sticky "Your box" summary with a reserve form (errors for an empty box, a missing name or email; a reserved state). - 404 (
404.html). - Light (newsprint) and dark (night print) themes, phone to desktop.
- The pull list is remembered in this browser (localStorage) and shared between the pages; the counter in the bar follows it.
